Google Analytics

Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a free Web analytics program that is used to check the visitors traffic on website. This program is created by Google and it has helped many businesses to convert potential customers into sales. It works on a simple logic that is track the people who visited website and then enhance their experience.

Google Analytics collects information with the help of cookies and Java script code about the visitors. You can generate a report which would show visitor activities and measure the performance of advertising campaigns. It can do wonders for you if you know how to use it.

Today, I would briefly explain how to get started with Google Analytics. As I said earlier, it is a free program so nothing to worry about the monthly or yearly fees or any kind of subscriptions. Follow these simple steps:

1.      Create a Gmail account. Go to www.gmail.com and sign up

2.      Then create a website profile: www.google.com/analytics

3.      Google would generate a tracking code, add tracking code

4.      Google would notify you in some time and your account is ready for use.

In my next blog I would explain some terms used in Google Analytics. These terms are:

Alerts, Benchmarking, Bounce Rate, Click, Conversion, Cookie, Cost Data, Custom Reporting, Direct Traffic, Ecommerce, Exact Match, Filter, Funnels, Goal, Goal Conversion Rate, Head Match, Impression, Keywords, Landing Page, Loyalty, Match Type, New Visitors, Organic Traffic, Paid Traffic, Page View,  Query Parameter, Query Variable, Referring Sites, Search Engines, Time On Sites, Unique Visitor, Visitor.

Perception- Do you see what you want to see?

Perception- Do you see what you want to see?

“Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change.” (Wayne W. Dyer)

How often you judge others without knowing them properly? If you think about it, you would probably come up with an answer. I am not saying your perceptions can be always wrong but without understanding the real issue and come up with a conclusion would be a big mistake. As far as professional life is concerned, other’s perceptions should be never ignored.

Dealing with people is an art and it also helps in building long term relationships. I had seen people with positive frame of mind getting along with people easily. As marketers, remember when a consumer is going through buying decision process, perception establishes the real understanding of a product or service. During this whole process, four distinct stages of perception occur:

  • Sensation: This describes the initial response when a consumer see a product or know about the service. We can also call this as a first impression and if consumer is satisfied he would most likely think about the product or service in future.
  • Attention: After initial response if customer goes through mental processing, he would pay attention and ask for more information.
  • Interpretation: Consumer would now analyze the information and try to remember his previous experience with a product or service offered to him.
  • Retention: This is the last stage where consumer finally decide what to do further. On the basis of his past experiences and strong brand image, final decision is made.
Idea is to make every effort to understand others and build long term relationships. This way it would be easy to be successful in terms of business and also it would help you grow as mature individual.
